RAVEENA HEADACHES

Raveena is a native New-Yorker with Indian heritage who's a whiz in creating laid-back, summery tunes. Her recent album Lucid was released last year and gem for those who like to lounge. She's dropped a smashing new single titled 'Headaches'. Shimmery electronics, smooth bass playing and blissful plucked guitar are crafted over a hip hop beat. Inspired by artists like Minnie Ripperton and Corrine Bailey Rae, Raveena's vocals are sweet like watermelon and easy on the ears. She sings the chorus line with a breezy soulfulness, which is embellished with blissful jazzy harmonies: "don't play with my heart I'm tryna be smart, but I can't control this, hold on. I'm dizzy with headaches, I need a medic, can you stay still while I'm like this?" Half way through the track, the mood switches to a soundscape with a much more indie feel. A live drum beat replaces the electronic one, and wistful guitar strums elevate the song, along with a twinkly arpeggiator. 'Headaches' is a brilliant song about the uncontrollable emotions that accompany love. -Ellie Rose-Davies
